Math Becomes Christmas Presents

8th graders in Mrs. DeNu's class made string art projects based on their knowledge of graphing equations. "They did such a great job!! They actually really liked the idea of making something for their parents for Christmas!" said Mrs. DeNu.

Canned Food Drive Sponsored by NJHS

Students collected a total of 3021 cans of food in the food drive sponsored by NJHS. The top homeroom class was Mrs. Fox with 896 cans. Her class will receive a pizza party. The top student was A.J. Davis, bringing in 172 cans. A.J. will receive a Skyline lunch. The other top students will receive either a gym pass or a homework pass. They are Veronica Belousov, Brice Noland, Brooke Noland, and Jonny Payne.

GMS Celebrates Veterans Day

Students at GMS celebrated Veterans Day with an assembly. Sgt. Jaye Marshall, a United States Air Force recruiter, spoke with students about Veterans Day and his military career. He also answered several questions the students asked.

Patriot Day

GMS will be celebrating Patriot Day this Friday, September 9th. As part of the celebration we are asking each grade to wear a particular color. 6th graders should wear RED, 7th graders should wear BLUE and 8th graders should wear WHITE.

Warrior Walk

GMS will be participating in the annual Warrior Walk on September 30. Students should be collecting pledges to help with this fundraiser. This money goes towards fun activities that students participate in including field trips, end of year rewards, and technology in the classroom. Our goal for the building is to raise $10,000. If we meet that goal, Mr. Edwards has agreed to spend the night on the roof of the building. His over night adventure will be streamed on Facebook for all to see.
