It's been a great week at GMS! Please enjoy a variety of the happenings!

Attention Goshen Middle School (GMS) parents! Yearbooks are on sale and ready to be ordered! Please visit www.yearbookforever.com if you would like to get one for your student. Distribution will be in May.

Students in Mr. Bohl’s sixth grade science class have been working on their soil unit. As part of the unit, they created edible soil layers to represent the actual soil. The best part was eating the soil and worms when they were finished!

🎶 Swifties, snacks, and Singo—oh my!
Thanks to Mrs. Slagle and Ms. Carrie, the GMS library was turned into the ultimate Taylor Swift listening lounge. Students who participated in the recent library scavenger hunt got their shot at the party of the year when they were entered into a lottery drawing to attend the bash! Overall the party, students, and album were a hit! 💿✨

There’s nothing like the joy of simple moments. Riding in the gator with Coach Slagle is the highlight of 6th grade GMS student, Faize’s day! Coach even bought Faize the red hat to keep him safe from the sun!

Peer mentoring groups started at GMS today! Peer mentoring groups are designed to bring students together in a supportive environment, where positive relationships can grow. These groups create important, social bonds between children with special needs and their peers helping foster understanding, inclusion and friendship. The focus of peer mentoring is on developing a growth mindset, building, motivation, and strengthening social responsibility. Groups meet regularly during the week providing consistent opportunities for connection and growth. During each session, students participate in team-building activities, games and guided social interactions. These experiences not only encourage collaboration and problem-solving but also help students practice essential social skills in a fun, engaging way. Ultimately, peer mentoring groups promote acceptance, empathy, and a stronger school community.

GMS students in Mrs. Kallmeyer’s and Mr. Hines’ classes had a blast today experimenting with chemical reactions! With a little mixing and a lot of curiosity, they created some fun foaming explosions while learning about the science behind it all.

GMS Sources of Strength started their fall campaign with “Fall in a mug” Apple cider sales. Every Friday, until Halloween, during tribe students can purchase a glass of Apple cider for $1! SOS funds go directly to fun swag for students!

Sit. Stay. Slay! 📸🐾 Our golden girl Meg, worked the camera like a pro. Warning: her picture day smile is known to cause uncontrollable grins!

📚 GMS students put their detective skills to the test during a library scavenger hunt! 🔍 From tracking down genres and authors to matching call numbers (and more!), they had a fun and engaging way to explore every corner of the library.

🎨 Our GMS art students are getting creative with texture and color! They’ve been hard at work felting wool to design beautiful landscape scenes. We’re so proud of their artistic talent and imagination!

Homecoming at GMS! We started the morning with "campus clean up" to get our stadium looking good for tonight's festivities! Then, students experienced everyone's favorite tradition- the homecoming pep rally followed by "house battle games!" It was a fantastic Friday!

In honor of Patriot Day, GMS treated Goshen's first responders to a skyline lunch! Thank you first responders for all you do for the community. Thank you Goshen Skyline for your generous donation!

Day 3 of Spirit Week and GMS students were feeling the vacation vibes!

It's day 2 of spirit week at GMS and "Hat Day is always a fan favorite!

GMS students enjoyed "Rolling out of bed" to participate in Goshen's homecoming spirit week!

Hold on to your aprons, parents! Mrs. Mirus's class traded textbooks for spatulas this morning and turned GMS into a culinary hotspot. Your little chefs-in-training had a blast learning how to bake their own chicken nuggets! The results were delicious, and a few of them even said they're ready to open their own five-star restaurant. 🐔

It's time for Homecoming 2025 and no one does Homecoming quite like Goshen Local Schools! Check out the Homecoming info hub on our homepage!

Breaking news: GMS students, Chance Labanz has one more forecast to chase… and it’s a big one! ☀️
Last year, our community came together in the most powerful way. Because of you, Chance’s passion for weather reached nearly every news station in the Tri-state area. Local meteorologists welcomed him like family, gave him unforgettable hands-on experiences, and showed him that dreams really do come true.
But there’s one dream Chance still holds close to his heart: meeting his hero, Al Roker, on The Today Show. 💙
Watch his new highlight reel of his experience thus far and help us take this one step further. Share this post, tag @TODAYshow, and let’s get this story to Al himself. Together, we can give Chance the moment he’s been forecasting all along! #todayshow #takeachance #autismawareness
